Medical Insurance

Medical insurance coverage is provided to regular full-time employees and regular part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Tucson, AZ -- CIGNA
  • Sunspot, NM -- CIGNA
  • Chile -- CIGNA International
Spouses and dependent children up to age 26 are eligible. AURA pays 100% of the monthly premium for full-time employee coverage, and employees pay a portion of the dependent premium for covered dependents. Eligible part-time employees pay a portion of their own and their dependent premiums.

Dental Insurance
Dental insurance coverage is provided to regular full-time employees and regular part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week.

  • Tucson Only -- Employer's Dental Service--Prepaid Plan
  • Worldwide -- MetLife -- PDP Indemnity Plan
Spouses and unmarried dependent children under the age of 19 (or up to age 26, if unmarried) are also eligible. AURA pays 100% of the monthly premium for full-time employee coverage and employees pay a portion of the dependent premium for covered dependents. Eligible part-time employees pay a portion of their own and their dependent premiums.

Voluntary Vision Insurance

A voluntary vision plan is offered through United Healthcare Specialty Benefits to regular full-time employees and regular part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week.

Vision Exam Benefit

Each AURA employee and dependent enrolled in the CIGNA OAP may utilize any Ophthalmologist or Optometrist and receive an Eye Exam annually for $20.00 co-payment (benefit is limited to one exam annually per member). The member would need to make full payment at the time of exam and then complete a CIGNA Medical Claim form for reimbursement of 100% less $20.00 co-payment.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Flexible spending accounts are a way of making pre-tax payroll deductions for qualified medical and/or dependent care expenses

Life & Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

   Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance--Employer Paid
  • Full-time regular staff: 1 x annual base salary up to $250,000; $40,000 minimum coverage.
  • Part-time regular staff: 1 x annual base salary up to $250,000; $20,000 minimum coverage.
   Voluntary Term Life Insurance
  • Purchase from $10,000 up to $500,000 or seven times employee's salary in $10,000 increments
  • Purchase 50% of employee amount for the spouse
  • Purchase $10,000 for each eligible child (pay only one premium for eligible dependent children)
   Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
  • Purchase from $10,000 up to $500,000 or seven times salary in $10,000 increments
  • Purchase 50% of employee amount for the spouse
Long Term Disability Insurance

In the event you become disabled for over 180 days, the LTD plan will provide regular full-time employees with the following benefits after a one-year waiting period:
  • Domestic Employees--60% of basic monthly earnings*
  • International Employees--662/3% of basic monthly earnings*
      *Maximum benefit of $6,000/month

Short Term Disability Insurance

In the event you become disabled for over 13 days, the STD plan will provide regular full-time employees with the following benefits:
  • 100% Employer Paid
  • 60% of weekly earnings*
  • Benefits continue for up to 24 weeks
      *Maximum benefit of $1,385/week

Life Assistance Plan

AURA offers an Life Assistance Plan and work-life services through the Life Assistance Plan -- CIGNA Behavioral Health. This free and confidential company-sponsored benefit is available at no cost to you and your immediate family as part of the Long-Term Disability Plan.

Secure Travel Services

CIGNA Secure Travel Services is a free program made available to regular full-time employees and their families through CIGNA Group Insurance.

Here is a quick look at the services available:
  • Emergency medical evacuation;
  • 24-hour multilingual assistance;
  • Pre-trip planning services, including foreign travel;
  • Medical referrals;
  • Prescription refill services;
  • Assistance with lost or stolen items;
  • Translation and interpretation services;
  • Emergency travel services;
  • Repatriation of remains;
  • Arrangements for payment of your medical expenses up to $10,000 with confirmation of reimbursement

Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Always carry your CIGNA Secure Travel member ID card whenever you travel.
  • Indicate that you are a member of CIGNA Secure Travel
  • This service will not replace your health insurance. In order to get reimbursed for medical bills, please follow the procedures outlined by your health insurance plan.

To access your Personal Estate Planning web page, simply complete the online form to register as a new user. When prompted for a registration code, provide your date of birth plus the last four digits of your Social Security number. Once this is completed, you can immediately start building your will and other legal documents.

Retirement Savings Plans

Money Purchase Pension Plan--401(a) funded entirely by AURA.
  • 10% of employee's base salary is contributed bi-weekly.
  • 100% immediate vesting.
Tax Sheltered Account--403(b) funded by employee contributions.
  • Employees can contribute up to 100% of their salary or $16,500 in 2010.
  • Employees over age 50 can contribute an additional $5,500 as a "catch-up" provision.
Deferred Compensation Plan--457(b) funded by employee contributions.
  • Eligibility applies to fulltime employees who are considered "highly compensated" ($115,000 for 2012).
  • Employees must be contributing the maximum permissible amount for your age to the 403b plan
    • $17,000 if you are under age of 50 OR $22,500 if you are age 50 or over.

Tuition Reimbursement
AURA supports work-related education and training for regular, full-time employees by refunding 100% of out-of-pocket tuition costs for grades of A or B and 50% for a grade of C. Reimbursement is limited to six credits per semester. Approval must be obtained in advance of registering. To access the Application for Tuition Refund, click here.

Domestic Partner Policy
Medical, Dental, and Voluntary Vision Insurance Coverage is available for Domestic Partners of employees. Medical, Dental, and Voluntary Vision Insurance plans that cover AURA employees, are available for Domestic Partners of employees. The Domestic Partners must be in an exclusive, committed relationship that meets certain criteria to be considered a spousal equivalent. A notarized affidavit available from the AURA Human Resources Office must be completed, and supporting documentation presented in order to qualify.
